The project started at the request of the Italian volunteer group Naaman, which supports Communauté Enfants Padre Maurizio (C.E.P.M), the community founded by Father Maurizio Bizzoni in the suburbs of Daloa.
The project aims to improve the living conditions of the children hosted within the Community (which is one of the three reference structures in Daloa for Social Services and Juvenile Court), through the construction of new buildings and the implementation of an adequate drinking water and sanitation system. It also must provide the expansion of the facility with a capacity for up to 28 boys.
In 2017 the first phase of the extension project was carried out, with the construction of a building that houses the collective gathering spaces, the kitchen and a toilet block. The building was constructed using simple, low environmental impact and easily replicable technologies, with materials found on-site as mudbricks and a wild species of bamboo used in rural villages to provides high structural performances .
